Character Costumes
My first introduction to costuming was through learning to make character cosplays. Luckily I had enough friends that were in the scene, that it was easy for me to get started. As I've continued my own original work, creating cosplays and going to events provide a nice breath of fresh air and balance. All costumes here are at mostly handmade or upcycled.
1. Corpse Bride - Emily - 2024
2. Adventure Time - Princess Bubblegum - 2023
3. Birds of Prey - Harley Quinn - 20234
4. The Owl House - Lilith - 2021
5. Mario Brothers Aces - Princess Peach - 2019
Corpse Bride - Emily
About
Emily is one of the main protagonists of Tim Burton's 'Corpse Bride'. Every year, Sealaska Heritage Institute has a costume theme for Halloween day. The theme for 2024 was 'Tim Burton'. The dress is upcycled, dyed, sewn, and burned. The veil is made out of an old curtain, and painted flowers. The arm and leg sleeves were handmade and painted. And the pigeons are the local flock I take care of in Juneau. Credit for the images goes to Molly Briggs in 2024.
Seattle ComicCon
About
The first two images of my interpretation of Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time. The last picture is a Harley Quinn costume of one of the main outfits from the movie 'Birds of Prey'.

For the Princess Bubblegum outfit, I made the crown out of clay, the lab coat was dyed and buttons and ribbons were sewn into it. The dress was dyed, and the other pieces were thrifted/bought.

For the Harley outfit, the mallet and overalls were bought. The jacket was an upcycled clear jacket that I hand glued streamers and party table covers into strips on.

Clowns, Clowns, and Leeloo
About
I love a good clown character - the colors, the patterns, and the vibrant personalities are all very attractive character descriptions. I bought two cheaper costumes of the Moon animatronic from Five Nights at Freddys and Geiru Toneido from Ace Attornery and upcycled them.
For LeeLoo, I bought the suspenders from a fellow cosplayer, and upcycled the leggings, shirt, and the wig.
The Owl House - Lilith
About
Lilith is antagonist character that becomes a redeemed protagonist in the tv series 'The Owl House'.

The skirt is based on an 1800s Edwardian skirt pattern. It's made of a variety of old bedsheets and was all handmade and corseted.

The other items were bought and upcycled.

Colossalcon
About
For the event Colossalcon, I made two cosplays from scratch: Raven from Teen Titans and Gum from Jet Set Radio.

For Raven, I sewed the cloak and sleeves/cuffs. I made the forehead gem with a glue gun. The gems were made with curtain holders, clay, and an old belt.

For Gum, I used a similar helmet pattern to make the unique Gum helmet out of kids foam. The dress is an upcycled XL mens exercise shirt. The gloves are sewn with the extra fabric from the shirt. The shirt is made from my own pattern. The rollarblades have boot covers made from childrens foam.

Princess Peach- Aces
About
Princess Peach is a video game character that appears in most of the Mario games universe. This particular rendition is from the Mario Aces game.

This cosplay was the very first cosplay I made from scratch. I learned how to adapt patterns with assistance from my grandma, and is sew from scratch. The gem on the dress is attached with magnets and is made from air dry clay. The tennis racket was hand painted. The crown was upcycled and painted.

Princess Daisy is Raya Zimon, who was also my introduction into cosplay.
