Peredur Finds a Profession
Freelance project with James Rands to design a book cover for the first book of his fantasy and adventure story- project was worked on over the course of three months, from character design, drafts, and typography. Scroll down the page to see how I reached the final image below.
Part 1: Character designs - Writer sent me a selection of his book and we discussed the chapter so I could get an idea of how the characters acted and looked.
Part 2: Sketch design - sent five choices to writer as well as a proposed color palette - writer selected a design.
Part 3: Sent a sketch with rough lines and color - discussed ideas for text and agreed upon where the text should be .Writer delegates on details on the cover, making sure all details represent what is in the book and the scene depicted itself.
Part 4: Typography is agreed upon - decision to have the text hand drawn rather than digitally.
Part 5: Image is drawn and finalized - spot text and details on binding are finished as well - finished!
